Women's Hormone Test Panel — Expanded
Hormones influence nearly every aspect of a woman's health, including menstrual cycles, fertility, metabolism, energy levels, mood, sleep, weight, and overall well-being. The Women's Hormone Test Panel — Expanded provides a comprehensive evaluation of the hormones that work together to regulate these important functions throughout every stage of life.
If you're experiencing irregular menstrual cycles, planning for pregnancy, navigating perimenopause or menopause, or simply looking to better understand your hormonal health, this panel offers valuable insights that can help you and your healthcare provider make informed decisions about your care.
With hormone levels naturally fluctuating throughout the month and changing with age, a comprehensive hormone evaluation can provide a clearer picture of what is happening inside your body and identify imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms.
What Does This Test Measure?
The Women's Hormone Test Panel — Expanded evaluates several important hormones that influence reproductive health, metabolism, and overall wellness.
Estradiol (Estrogen)
Estradiol is the primary form of estrogen and plays an essential role in:
Menstrual cycle regulation
Fertility
Bone health
Heart health
Vaginal health
Mood and cognitive function
Abnormal estrogen levels may contribute to menstrual irregularities, fertility concerns, menopausal symptoms, and changes in overall health.
Progesterone
Progesterone helps regulate the menstrual cycle and supports pregnancy.
Testing progesterone can help evaluate:
Ovulation
Fertility
Menstrual irregularities
Hormonal balance
Reproductive health
Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
FSH stimulates the ovaries and plays an important role in egg development and reproductive function.
FSH testing is commonly used to evaluate:
Fertility
Ovarian function
Perimenopause
Menopause
Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
LH works alongside FSH to regulate ovulation and reproductive hormone production.
Abnormal LH levels may help identify hormonal conditions affecting fertility or menstrual health.
Testosterone
Although present in smaller amounts than in men, testosterone is an important hormone for women and contributes to:
Energy
Muscle strength
Libido
Bone health
Mood
Both low and elevated testosterone levels may affect overall health and hormonal balance.
DHEA-S (Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate)
DHEA-S is an adrenal hormone involved in the production of estrogen and testosterone.
Abnormal levels may contribute to hormonal imbalance, acne, excess hair growth, fertility concerns, or symptoms associated with adrenal disorders.
Prolactin
Prolactin helps regulate breast development and milk production but can also influence menstrual cycles and fertility.
Elevated prolactin levels may contribute to irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, or unexpected breast milk production.
Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
Because thyroid health is closely connected to hormone balance, this panel may include TSH to evaluate thyroid function, which influences:
Energy
Metabolism
Weight
Mood
Menstrual health
Additional Hormone Markers
Depending on your healthcare provider's order, the Expanded Women's Hormone Panel may include additional hormone or wellness markers to provide an even more comprehensive assessment of your endocrine health.
